North Middle School Wrestling Guidelines and Expectations

- Turn in your medical card and participation agreement before we start on November 7th
- Remain Academically Eligible – Student than Athlete
- Have FUN
- Good Behavior on and off the mat
- Follow all TEAM and Athletic code rules – Any infraction is subject to team and / or school disciplinary action
Locker room behaviors – respect everyone & their privacy, no cameras allowed, and pick up what you and your team left behind
All absences must be communicated with a coach and deemed acceptable
Practices – Monday – Friday after school from 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM
Be on time, have your equipment and ready to go!
No practices if: a dual meet is scheduled or if there’s a school holiday break
During those times our kids are referred to High School practices, clubs or workout on your own
Dual Meets – Avg. 2 per week, are home and away with the start about 3:35-4:00PM, lasting about 2 hours
Home meets - 6 scheduled
The kids must report to the wrestling room right after to school to help set up
Remain in their uniform until the very end of the meet
They are not allowed to leave until all the teardown is completed. (Est. time 20 min)
Away meets – 6 scheduled
The kids will be transported to and from the away meet via a school bus
A parent authorization form must be turned in if you choose to not take the bus home
They are available on line and copies may be available from a coach
Tournaments – are away, an 8-10 hour all-day event on Saturdays with two scheduled this year
Transportation provided a by school bus; parent letter needed if you choose to not take it home
All dual meet and tournament matches are set up based upon: the athlete’s eligibility (academically, disciplinary, and / or health), ranked skill level, weight class, and our opponent’s availability under these same criteria
All wrestlers are subject to a weigh in, a visual skin, hair and nail inspection
Dual Meets & Tournaments
- Unless authorized by a coach –
- Must remain with the team at all times and until the END
- Must remain in uniform until the Team is done…
- They must refrain from the use of any electronic device; unless they are authorized by a coach, there’s an emergency, or their using it to warm-up or filming a match. Phones – must remain on silent and not in use during duals.
Personal Hygiene & Equipment
Shower after events to prevent skin infections
If your deemed to have a skin infection from an official, you will not be allowed to wrestler and may need a Doctors notice to return to full participation.
ZERO weight loss! You wrestle what you weigh. Weigh-Ins will occur the day before and / or on the day of meets & tournaments
Issued equipment (headgear & singlet) must be maintained and turned in at the end of the season
-If you lose or fail to turn in your gear you will be held financial responsible for its replacement
Practice gear: active wear type clothing - shorts, T-shirt and /or sweats (No jeans), & headgear
Preferred wrestling shoes or inside only gym type shoes
Bring a water bottle so you don’t have to leave the room
Dual meet gear: Team singlet, headgear, wrestling & or like shoes, water bottle &warm ups (T-shirt, shorts, & / or sweats)

Your local sports stores, re sale shops and / or online stores are resources for practice gear and shoes
Support your student athlete
Understand the sport…..why is my kid not wrestling..??? Skill level, weight, opponents roster or disciplinary
Stay involved……Wrestling is a Family Sport
Be willing to adapt to change….ex; Team meetings
If there is a problem notify a coach when it happens so we know and can address it!
We can’t fix a problem unless we know about it!

Team Manager’s Responsibilities
Assist the coaching staff with record keeping of our equipment, wrestler and team records, scoring, dual meet set up of matches, mat clean up /sanitation, and team roll call.
Remain in communication with the coaches for assistance throughout the week. Practices are not mandatory and will be on a case by case basis depending on the need for job tasks to be completed.
They are expected to be with the team during all home, away dual meets, tournaments, to include travel. If you’re unable to make these scheduled events, this must be communicated with a coach.
Wrestling clubs/other sports
It is a good idea to stay competitive in the off season whether it be another sport, club wrestling or tournaments.
Below are some options for you
Jr. Indians wrestling club: Practice is Tuesday and Thursday at the United Fitness center over by Su Casa. Cost is only $75 which includes the cost of a USA car which is needed for most tournaments.
Ringers Wrestling club: Also practices at the United fitness Center on Mondays and Wednesdays. Check them out at: http://www.ringerswrestling.com/

WHO IS ELGIBLE TO WRESTLE?
ANY 6TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE BOY OR GIRL. WE HAVE A NO CUT POLICY.
